Our Programs

The OCFJC Foundation provides empowerment and prevention resources to victims and families whose lives have been impacted by family violence. Our long-term goal is to empower survivors of family violence to lead sustainable and violence-free lives.

Unfortunately, demand for our services continues spiralings up. Increasing numbers of women, children and elderly adults are at-risk for becoming victims of family violence, often at the hands of people who were themselves victims of violence.

Our programs are supported by our generous Justice Circle members and other committed sponsors and private foundations.

The OCFJC Foundation supports two programs: Violence Prevention Programs and Direct Assistance.

We take our programs directly into the communities. Our Kids Creating Change program is available offsite and we offer it in family resource centers, community centers, schools and other community sites. We have offered this program in Anaheim, Garden Grove and Placentia.

Youth Violence Prevention Program

Children who witness violence at home and in the community need to develop healthy and nonviolent strategies to cope with every-day stresses.

Our 20-hour youth violence prevention program empowers young people with the necessary knowledge and skills to break the cycle of abuse.

Our Youth Violence Prevention Program is made possible, thanks to the generosity of: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California,Anaheim Community Foundation, In-N-Out Burger Foundation, Sempra Energy, Anaheim Rotary and Anaheim Hills Rotary and Southern California Edison.

We group children into classes of 15 children and 20 teenagers and provide age-appropriate lessons and activities. As of October 2014, we've graduated 632 youth from these programs.

Kids Creating Change, our program for elementary school-age children (5-12), covers:  conflict resolution/playground bullying; anger management; communication skills; physical health; and, effective family communication (combined parents and children, with breakout sessions).

Real Teens, Real Talk, our program for junior high and high school-age teens (13-18), covers: self-esteem; communication skills; college preparation; goal-setting; healthy relationships; anti-bullying; and, setting boundaries.

Our next Kids Creating Change class starts in January 2015. Our programs are available both onsite at the OCFJC and offsite, at community locations, such as Community Centers, Nonprofit Sites, Family Resource Centers or Public Libraries or other convenient locations.

Adult Violence Prevention Program

In September 2014, we launched our adult empowerment and violence prevention program, Women Over Violence, to reach adult women who have been or are currently in abusive relationships. We increase awareness about the cycle of violence, while fostering independence and leadership, to break the cycle of violence.

This program is offered in English and Arabic. Our programs are available both onsite at the OCFJC and offsite, at community locations, such as Community Centers, Nonprofit Sites, Family Resource Centers or Public Libraries or other convenient locations.
